Al-Azmeyah, Our History & Story

Al-Azmeyah Trading Establishment (which is referred to as “Al-Azmeyah” thereafter) is a Saudi Arabian entity that began its commercial activities in the beginning of the year 1998 (1418 Hijri), and changed its name in the month of July of 2003, which corresponded with the month of Jumada Al-Awal 1424 Hijri, from “Al-Hudaif Trading Establishment” to “Al-Azmeyah Trading Establishment”, a name that is driven from the fruitful lofty palm "Al-Azmeyah", which was planted, and taken care of, by the 3rd grandfather of Al-Azmeyah’s owner in Al-Bukaireyah Governorate of Al-Qassim Provance in the late thirteenth century of Al-Hijra. The Palm “Al-Azmeyah”' is considered to be one the most famous palm trees in Al-Qassim Region, in general, and in Al-Bukaireyah Governorate, in particular, and this blessed and magnificent tree has a great story behind its name. The Palm “Al-Azmeyah”, or “Al-Awazem” in Arabic plural, is one of the rarest and most durable palm trees ever planted in Al-Qaseem Province; it is called as such because of its exceptional growth and ability to bear fruits during a period of time much less than other types of palm trees and, therefore, this kind of palm trees is called “Al-Awazem”; which means growing and bearing fruit much quicker than other types. The 3rd Grandfather of Al-Azmeyah’s owner had brought more than (100) of this rare type of palm trees from Iraq to be cultivated on his fathers’ farm in Al-Bukaireyah Governorate in Al-Qassim Province. “Al-Azmeyah” was given this unique name because (a) it was the fastest growing palm of Al-Awazem, where it was growing twice as much as the rest of Al- Awazem; (b) was the most productive one, as the amount of its fruits was twice as much as other Al-Awazem trees; (c) was, by far, the tallest palm of all of them, where it’s height was about 25 meters; and (d) it was the longest-lived one of Al-Awazem, where it was able to stand the test of time for more than (100) years. “Al-Azmeyah” palm was easily seen with the naked eye from a very far distance by people coming to Al-Bukaireyah Governorate because of its distinguished height from the rest of the other Al-Awazem.
